Image tools that never upload your photos
Every tool here works inside your browser. Your photos are read, processed and saved on your own device, which is faster than any upload and keeps private pictures private.
How the image tools work
These tools are for the jobs photos keep needing: compress or resize one for a form or a website, crop it, make a passport photo at the size an office asks for, remove the background, pixelate a face, or turn a picture into a cross-stitch pattern, a sticker or a colouring page.
Your pictures are opened and processed by your browser on your own device. They are not uploaded, so there is no upload to wait for on a slow connection and no copy left on anyone’s server. The tools that use an AI model, such as background removal, upscaling and reading text from a picture, download the model the first time; after that it runs on your device and works offline.
The free plan needs no account and puts no watermark on your pictures: 3 images per run (more on tools made for many at once, such as Combine images), 20 MB per file and 5 runs a day. Pro lifts those limits, by subscription or as a 24-hour pass.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I compress an image to an exact size in KB?
- To a maximum, yes. Compress image to 50 KB and the other target pages (20, 100, 200 KB and more) find the best quality that stays under the limit, counted so the file passes whether the form means 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. If a form asks for a minimum instead, Increase image size in KB brings the file up to it without changing the picture.
- How do I make a passport or ID photo at home?
- Take a photo against a plain light wall, then open Passport photo maker: it measures your head and crops the picture to the size and head height the rules ask for, such as 35 × 45 mm or 2 × 2 inches. Passport photo print sheet then repeats it on one 10 × 15 cm or A4 print. It gets the measurements right; expression, lighting and glasses are down to the photo you start from.
- How do I resize a photo for social media or a website?
- Resize image takes the size in pixels, millimetres, centimetres or inches. For the platforms there are pages already set to their size, such as Instagram post size and YouTube thumbnail size. To make the file lighter as well, run the result through Compress image.
- Can I remove the background from a photo for free?
- Yes. Remove background cuts out a person, a product or a pet and gives you a PNG with a transparent background, and Change background puts a colour or another picture behind it. It works best when the subject is large in the frame and stands out from what is behind it.
- Do my photos carry information I should remove before sharing?
- Often. A phone photo can record where and when it was taken and with which camera. EXIF viewer shows what a file carries, and Remove EXIF saves a copy without it. Both read the photo on your device, so checking a picture does not mean handing it over.
