Frequently asked questions
- What is a vignette?
- Edges and corners that are darker than the middle, as many lenses give. It draws the eye to the subject and gives a photo a finished, slightly classic look. A white vignette fades the edges to white instead, a soft look for portraits and wedding photos.
- Round or fitted to the frame?
- Fitted to the frame follows the photo’s shape, so all four sides darken evenly. Round is a circle, so on a wide photo the top and bottom darken more than the sides, like an old lens. Either way the fall-off is smooth and finely dithered, so the sky does not show bands.
- Does it keep the size and transparency?
- Yes. The picture keeps the photo’s size (up to 16 megapixels), and a transparent background stays transparent in PNG and WebP. A JPG puts transparent areas on white.
- Is my photo uploaded, and what are the free limits?
- No. The vignette is added in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device, and there is no watermark. The free plan allows 3 photos of up to 20 MB per run and 5 runs a day; Pro removes these limits.
