How it works

  1. Drop the photos you are about to share. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos all work.
  2. Press Remove metadata. EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comment blocks are removed from each file.
  3. Download the photos one by one or as a ZIP. JPG, PNG and WebP keep their exact image data; HEIC photos are saved as JPG.
  4. Share the cleaned copies instead of the originals.

Frequently asked questions

What does a photo reveal without me knowing?
Phones store the GPS coordinates where a photo was taken, the date and time, the phone model and camera settings, and sometimes the owner's name or a serial number. Anyone who gets the original file can read them with free tools, which can reveal a home address from a picture of the living room.
Does removing metadata reduce the quality?
No. For JPG, PNG and WebP only the metadata blocks are removed and the compressed image data is copied unchanged, so there is no re-compression at all. HEIC cannot be cleaned that way, so those photos are converted to a high-quality JPG.
Will my portrait photos turn sideways?
No. Phones often store rotation as a metadata tag instead of turning the pixels. That one tag is kept, on its own, so photos stay the right way up; everything else is removed.
Do social networks not remove it anyway?
Several large ones strip it from what they publish, but the original file keeps it when you send photos by email, share a cloud link, attach them in apps that send the original, or put them on your own website.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The files are cleaned in your browser. The free plan handles 3 photos per run, 20 MB each and 10 runs per day; Pro cleans a whole album in one go.
