Example
Example: a summer-camp bracelet “CAMP ★ 2026”, 9 knots wide and 49 rows long
Settings: text CAMP ★ 2026, letter height 5 rows, Normal letters, white on green (#15803D), a border along both edges in yellow (#FACC15), 1 knot of space around the letters, 2 blank rows at each end, vertical along the bracelet, US Letter.
- Width: 5 rows of letter height, then 1 knot of space and 1 border knot on each side, 9 knots. That is 9 base strings and 3 working strings, one per colour.
- Length: the letters, the star, the digits, the spaces between the words and the blank rows at both ends make 49 rows, 441 knots in all.
- The colour list counts them for you: 253 green (A), 90 white (B), 98 yellow (C).
- Odd rows are tied left to right with forward knots, even rows right to left with backward knots; the row list is written in that order.
| Row | Knots, in tying order |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 C, 7 A, 1 C |
| 2 | 1 C, 7 A, 1 C |
| 3 | 1 C, 2 A, 3 B, 2 A, 1 C |
| 4 | 1 C, 1 A, 1 B, 3 A, 1 B, 1 A, 1 C |
| 5 | 1 C, 1 A, 1 B, 3 A, 1 B, 1 A, 1 C |
| 6 | 1 C, 7 A, 1 C |
| 7 | 1 C, 1 A, 4 B, 2 A, 1 C |
alpha-pattern-camp2026.pdf, three pages: the size, the strings and the colours with their knot counts, then the chart, then every row from 1 to 49. Rows 3 to 5 are the C, lying on its side along the bracelet.
How it works
- Type a name or word — a heart ♥ and a star ★ work too — and choose the letter height and style.
- Pick the colours, a border along the edges or all round, and the space around the letters.
- Download the PDF: the chart, the colours with knot counts and every row listed in the order you tie it.
Frequently asked questions
- How many strings do I need?
- One base string for each knot across, plus a working string for each colour; the PDF works it out for your pattern.
- How wide will my bracelet be?
- Letter height plus the space and the border: 5-row letters with 1 knot of space and a border along both edges make 9 knots across, 7-row letters 11. With no space and no border, 5-row letters are just 5 knots wide.
- Can the letters stand upright instead of running along the bracelet?
- Yes. Layout “Horizontal (letters upright)” turns the chart so the word reads left to right, which suits a wall hanging, a bookmark or a strip of loom beading.
- Can I use it for other crafts?
- Yes — the same grid works for tapestry crochet, loom beading and cross stitch lettering.
- What characters can I use?
- Letters A–Z and digits, accented letters written as their plain letter, and ♥ and ★.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The pattern is made in your browser.
