Resize a photo to 2×2 inches (600×600)

How it works

1. Drop the portrait onto the box. A plain white or off-white background, even lighting and a straight look at the camera are what the form expects.
2. Fill and crop is preselected and the frame is locked to a square. Drag it over your face and size it from a corner so your head sits in the middle with space above your hair.
3. Press Resize to 2×2 in. The result is exactly 600 × 600 pixels.
4. Download it. Upload the file to the online application, or print it at 2 × 2 inches for a paper form.

Frequently asked questions

Why 600 × 600 pixels?

2 inches × 300 dpi = 600 pixels on each side, so the square prints at exactly 2 × 2 inches. Online US passport and visa forms ask for a square photo of at least 600 × 600.

Can the photo be wider than it is tall?

No, and that is the point of this page: the size is fixed at 600 × 600, so the crop frame stays square and nothing comes out stretched. You only choose which part of the picture it holds.

Does the tool check the photo against the rules?

No. It gives you the exact square size; head position, background, expression, glasses and head coverings are yours to get right. Frame your head so it fills a good part of the square with a clear gap above the hair, and check the current requirements on the official site.

The form also has a file size limit. What then?

Resize here first, then run the result through Compress image and pick the target closest to what the form allows. Compressing lowers the quality, not the 600 × 600 pixel size.

Can I print several copies on one sheet?
