Example
Example: a tamaño infantil photo for a school file in Mexico, from a phone photo
A family in Houston is enrolling their daughter in a school in Mexico that asks for tamaño infantil photos, 2.5 × 3 cm. They photograph her against a white door with a phone, upright: nina.jpg, 3024 × 4032 pixels. On this page the size is fixed at 295 × 354 pixels at 300 dpi, with Fill and crop preset.
- Drop the photo. The frame opens as large as the 295:354 shape allows, centred: 3024 × 3629 pixels, the whole width, far too much room around a face.
- Make the frame smaller and move it round the head and shoulders, about 1500 × 1800 pixels, with a little space above the hair.
- Download nina-295x354.jpg, marked as 300 dpi, so it prints at 2.5 × 3.0 cm (0.98 × 1.18 in).
- To print several, put the photo on the 2.5 × 3 cm print sheet and print that at 100 %.
| Step | Size in pixels |
|---|---|
| Phone photo | 3024 × 4032 |
| Frame as it opens (295:354, centred) | 3024 × 3629 |
| Frame moved round the head and shoulders | 1500 × 1800 |
| Saved photo | 295 × 354 at 300 dpi = 2.5 × 3.0 cm |
A 295 × 354 pixel JPG that prints at exactly 2.5 × 3 cm, with the face in the middle and the white door behind it as photographed. The page only crops and resizes: the background and the pose are up to the photo you take.
How it works
- Photograph the face straight on against a plain, light wall.
- Drop it here and move the frame so the face is centred with a little room above the head.
- Download the 295 × 354 pixel photo, or print several on one sheet with the 2.5 × 3 cm print sheet.
Frequently asked questions
- What is tamaño infantil used for?
- School enrolment and records, student cards, certificates and many forms ask for this small size; passports use the larger 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
- Colour or black and white?
- Most places now take colour; some school certificates still ask for black and white on a white background — check what yours asks.
- Can I print several at once?
- Yes — the 2.5 × 3 cm print sheet fills a 10 × 15 cm photo print or a sheet of paper with copies and cutting guides.
- What is tamaño infantil in inches?
- 2.5 × 3 cm is about 0.98 × 1.18 inches, a little under 1 × 1.2 in. As a file it is 295 × 354 pixels at 300 dpi, which is what this page makes.
- The online form wants the photo under 50 KB. Can it do that?
- Yes: choose 50 KB under “Keep the file under”. The photo stays 295 × 354 pixels and only the JPG quality is lowered until the file fits.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser.
