This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.

How it works

  1. Drop a landscape photo. Covers are very wide, so portraits lose most of their height.
  2. Fill and crop is preselected: an 820×312 frame appears on the photo. Drag it up or down to choose the strip that becomes your cover.
  3. Press Resize for Facebook. The output is exactly 820 by 312 pixels, the size Facebook shows on desktop.
  4. Upload it as your cover. Keep faces and text within the central 640 pixels so they survive the phone crop.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a Facebook cover photo?
The Facebook cover photo size is 820 × 312 pixels (2.63:1), on a computer; phones show the middle 640 × 360. Facebook displays profile and Page covers at 820×312 pixels on desktop. Uploading exactly that size avoids Facebook's rescaling and the blur it brings. Facebook itself suggests at least 400×150 and says an sRGB JPG under 100 KB loads fastest.
What happens on phones?
On mobile the cover is shown at 640×360, which is taller and narrower: the left and right edges are cut off and a little more of the top and bottom is shown. Anything within the centre 640 pixels of width is safe on both.
Should I upload a larger file for retina screens?
You can double it to 1640×624 on the main Resize image tool. Facebook downscales it, but the result is sharper on high-density displays; the trade-off is somewhat stronger compression.
JPG or PNG?
JPG for photos. If the cover contains a logo or text, PNG keeps the edges sharper; Facebook still converts it, but the source is cleaner.
Is the photo uploaded to Nouplo?
No. The resize happens in your browser. The free plan allows 3 files per run, 20 MB per file and 5 runs per day; Pro removes those limits.
