This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Choose a photo taken within the last six months, facing the camera against a plain background, with no hat.
- A 35:45 frame appears on the photo. Move it and pull its corners so the face is centred, the shoulders are visible and there is a little space above the head.
- Press Save 700×900 JPEG to get a file of exactly 700 × 900 pixels.
- Upload the file in the online application: on the application website, or in the smartphone form opened from the QR code on your application form.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the rules for the online application photo?
- The file must be a JPEG between 20 KB and 7 MB, 480 to 6000 pixels wide and high, showing you facing forward with no hat against a plain background, taken within six months. The card photo is 45 × 35 mm, so the file should keep those proportions. This page makes a 35:45 JPEG of 700 × 900 pixels, inside all of those limits.
- Why 700 × 900 pixels?
- It is exactly the 35:45 ratio, comfortably above the 480-pixel minimum, and usually 100 to 250 KB, well within the file size range. A larger file would not make the card photo any sharper.
- Can I use a selfie?
- Yes, if it meets the rules. Hold the phone at eye level, stand a little away from a plain wall, and use the rear camera or a timer if you can. Holding the phone too close distorts the face.
- Is this the same as the passport photo size?
- The proportions are the same, 35 × 45 mm, but a passport photo for printing is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 dpi. For printed ID photos, use Passport photo size or the passport photo print sheet.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. Cropping and resizing happen in your browser. The photo leaves your device only when you upload it to the application site yourself.
