Your files stay on your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Drop one or more pictures: photos, scanned certificates or screenshots of a document.
- Leave Maximum dimension at Original size unless the form names a width or height as well.
- Press Compress to 300 KB. Each image gets its own quality, the highest one that still fits.
- Download the files one by one or together as a ZIP, and check the size shown in the list.
Frequently asked questions
- Does a photo keep its dimensions at 300 KB?
- Not a full phone photo, as a rule. Quality is lowered first, down to 0.4 at the most, and a 12-megapixel photo is usually still over 300 KB there, so its sides are then reduced as far as needed. A small picture, such as an ID photo, keeps every pixel.
- How is 300 KB counted?
- The result stays under 300,000 bytes, so it passes whether the form counts a kilobyte as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.
- What if my file is already under 300 KB?
- It is passed through untouched when the format stays the same and you have not set a maximum dimension. Re-encoding an image that already fits would only cost quality for nothing.
- How much quality is actually lost?
- Quality is lowered before size, because dropping JPEG quality a little saves far more bytes than it costs in visible detail. For a photo that started at 3 or 4 MB, 300 KB usually means a quality setting you have to look closely to notice on a screen. For print, keep the original.
- Is EXIF data removed?
- Only when the picture is re-encoded: that drops EXIF such as the GPS coordinates and the camera model. A JPG that is already under 300 KB is handed back untouched, EXIF and all, so if the location has to go, run it through Remove EXIF data as well.
- Is my image uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. The free plan handles 3 images per run, 20 MB each and 5 runs a day; Pro removes those limits.
