Frequently asked questions

Why 33 × 48 and not 35 × 45?

China uses its own standard. The print is 2 mm narrower and 3 mm taller than the European one, and the head sits in a lower range, 28 to 33 mm. A 35 × 45 photo trimmed down does not become a valid 33 × 48: the head ends up proportionally too large.

Is this the same as the online application photo?

Not necessarily. The online visa application asks for a digital file with its own pixel and file-size limits, which change and differ by centre. This page makes the printed size; check the application portal for the digital requirements and use the image compressor to hit a file-size limit.

Will a photo made at home be accepted?

The size and head measurement are what this guarantees. Everything else — how recent, expression, glasses, hair away from the face, plain white background — is judged at the visa centre and published in its own requirements. Read them before printing.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. The face is found and the crop is made inside the browser tab.
