How it works
- Type the network name exactly as it appears in the list — capitals and spaces included.
- Type the password and choose the security type. WPA covers WPA2 and WPA3, which is nearly every network.
- Download the PNG and print it for the wall, the guest room or the counter.
- Test it with a phone before you put it up.
Frequently asked questions
- Which phones can read it?
- The camera app on any current iPhone or Android joins the network straight from the code. Some older Androids need a QR app rather than the camera.
- Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?
- No, and that is the point of making one here rather than on a server: the code is drawn in your browser, and the password never leaves your computer. It is also not saved for next time.
- My password has a semicolon or a backslash in it.
- That is handled. Those characters would otherwise end a field in the code’s format, so they are escaped — a password with punctuation in it still works.
- Can I put a logo in the middle?
- Yes, and the code is then encoded at the strongest error correction so it still scans with the middle covered.
