How it works
- Enter the recipient and the IBAN; its check digits are verified at once.
- Add the amount and a reference such as the invoice number.
- Download the PNG and put it on an invoice, a reminder or an appeal.
- The payer scans it in their banking app; the transfer is filled in and only goes once they approve it.
Frequently asked questions
- Which apps read it?
- Most banking apps in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland; it is the European Payments Council’s standard (EPC069-12), known in Germany as GiroCode. Elsewhere support varies from bank to bank.
- Is the BIC needed?
- Not within the EEA: version 002 of the standard made it optional.
- What if the IBAN is wrong?
- No code is drawn. The check digits are verified and a typo shows a warning instead of a code that sends money nowhere.
- Does the money go through Nouplo?
- No. The code only fills in the transfer in the payer’s app. It is made in your browser and nothing you type is sent.
