This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Drop the photo onto the box.
- Drag across each face, plate or screen to blur. On a phone, tap it and adjust the box by its corners.
- Blur is preselected. Raise the strength until the details are unrecognisable in the preview.
- Press Blur marked areas and download the photo.
Frequently asked questions
- When is blur better than a mosaic?
- In photos of passers-by, children at an event or a cluttered room, blur looks more natural because it does not draw attention with squares. For text and numbers, use a solid box, which leaves nothing behind.
- How strong should the blur be?
- Strong enough that you cannot recognise the face or read the plate in the preview. Strength is relative to the size of the photo, so a setting that works on one photo looks much the same on another.
- Can I blur the whole background?
- You can mark the background with several boxes around the subject. For a smooth portrait-style background blur, a photo app that detects the subject automatically is the better tool.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The blur is applied on a canvas in your browser, and the saved photo carries no GPS location data.
- What are the free limits?
- The free plan allows 3 images per run, 20 MB per image and 10 runs per day. Pro removes these limits.
