This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.

How it works

  1. Drop a well-lit photo of you facing the camera. A plain wall behind you gives the cleanest edges.
  2. White and JPG are preselected; choose light blue if your form asks for it.
  3. Press Make background white. The first time, the cut-out model and its runtime (about 16 MB) are downloaded.
  4. Size the result with Passport photo size, or tile it for printing with the passport photo print sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Will a passport office accept an edited background?
Check the official rules first. Many authorities, including the US Department of State, reject photos that have been digitally altered, and some forbid changing the background. Use it where edits are fine, such as résumés, staff and student cards, and memberships.
White or light blue?
Follow whatever the form specifies. When nothing is specified, white is the safe choice.
Will the hair look natural?
The model is trained to cut out people, so hair edges usually look natural. Hair the same colour as the background, or very wide hairstyles, can leave rough edges; a plain wall helps.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The model runs in your browser, so the photo of your face never leaves your device. The free plan handles 3 photos per run, 20 MB each and 10 runs per day.
